This is a regular mailing intended to improve communication within the Search and Rescue community in Alberta. It's going out to over 130 e-mail addresses that are listed as the primary contact of SAR Alberta member groups or which were requested to be added to the mailing list. Here are some of the happenings in SAR in Alberta:

SAR Day in May

Having a designated day for Search and Rescue is an honour. A day where the Provincial Government recognizes the value and the need for trained SAR Volunteers. A day for them to say thanks we know your out there. An opportunity for SAR teams to bring awareness to the communities and promote their services.

May 6, 2000 is Search and Rescue Day. Our day. Don't let it pass you by.

Brazeau Regional SAR Mock Search

In recognition of the Provincial SAR Day, May 6 a mock search will be hosted in the Drayton Valley area by Brazeau Regional SAR. Teams hoped to be involved will consist of GSAR, Dog teams, RCMP, Ambulance and Mantrackers Any interested Teams in participating contact: Pat Irwin bobirwin@incentre.net (403) 542-7498 or 542-3234.

Man-Tracking in Ft.McMurray

Ft. McMurray SAR is holding a mantracking course. May 6-7 cost for non-members $100.00 limited numbers To Register contact: Don Drissel (780) 715-2130 mr.chief@home.com

SARVAC Trip Plans

SARVAC would like to hear from all groups who have given out the Outdoor survival trip plan and reflective card. They are looking for unique ideas on how they were given out and to whom. SEASAR First Aid Info Request

Donovan Hoggan, the First aid coordinator for SEASAR, is looking for information, guidelines, and job descriptions on how teams provide first aid. He is interested in any special equipment and how it gets to the potential survivor. Has any groups held first aid specific fundraising for their groups? Any suggestions on this would be appreciated. SAR Fundamentals Instructors

The SAR AB Standards and Training Committee is putting together an updated list of SAR Fundamentals Instructors. SAR Signs for Packs

SAR signs made out of the same material used on highway warning signs, that can with stand heat and cold to be placed on SAR workers backpacks or vests.
