PROVINCIAL TRAINING FUNDS EXTENDED FOR A THIRD YEAR

SAR Alberta has been working closely with Emergency Management

Alberta, to extend provincial funding for SAR training.  We are

pleased inform you that Alberta Municipal Affairs announced on

December 9th, that an additional $150,000 will be provided to support

SAR training in the 2003-2004 year.  This brings the three year total

to $450,000 of support SAR Alberta has enabled through ongoing

coordination and your cooperation.  As in past years, SAR groups that

were targeted to host courses as a result of the provincial training

meeting held October 26th

in Red Deer, will need to complete the grant application form in

conjunction with  their sponsoring municipality.  If you aren't sure

if your SAR team has been selected to host a provincially funded

course, or

need to know which municipality you've been partnered with, contact

Provincial Training Coordinator Fred McFall at <ve6frm@rac.ca>

   - The Wide World of Communication -

The South Eastern Alberta Search and Rescue (SEASAR) Team, SAR

Alberta and The Eagles Nest Ranch have joined forces to host the 2003

SAR Alberta Conference with a TWIST! With the proximity to the USA and

to the Saskatchewan Border we are going INTERNATIONAL in scope.

unique and well hidden outdoor oasis offers the SAR Alberta Conference

attendees a total immersion into the SAR Scene with NO outside

distractions. Cell phones don't work here! Most Pagers don't work

here! Unless someone knows where you are, they won't find you!

Conference dates are March 7, 8, & 9th 2003. Information and

registration form is already up on the SEASAR website, with more

information being posted each month as the event draws nearer. SEASAR

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A CHALLENGE?

--------------------------------

SAR Alberta holds elections at its Annual General Meeting each year

for officer positions that need filling.  Each year the position of

Vice

President becomes vacant as the current Vice President and President

move up one step to President and Past President, at the completion of

their term.  Subsequently serving within the presidency of SAR Alberta

is a three commitment.  Also up for election this upcoming AGM is the

position of Secretary.  This is a two year commitment.

If you are interested in taking an active role in the direction and

decision making of SAR Alberta, and serving your provincial SAR

community, we want to hear from you.  For more information, contact

Nominations and Elections Committee Chair, Brad Marshall at

<bmarsh@telusplanet.net>

NEW ORDER FORM

SAR Alberta's Order Form has been updated to include the new CER

Student Manual and CER Companion Book "It's a Disaster". Both are

provided a discount price for volume orders of SAR Alberta crests.

Regularly priced at $7.00/crest, for orders of 40 or more crests can
