Association (NSGSARA) and held on September 11-14th in
Halifax,
SARSCENE 2002 lived up to its expectations. Highlights
this year
include: Foothills SAR successfully defending their 1st
place finish
at the national SAR competitions; a memorial recognizing
those fallen
emergency service workers of 9/11; award of a National
Search and
Rescue Certificate
of Achievement to RCMP Cpl Jim Galloway; and the
marking of the retirement of John Chaffey from NSS. More

PROVINCIAL TRAINING COORDINATION MEETING
----------------------------------------
SAR Alberta's
Training Committee is convening a meeting of all the
SAR Team Training Coordinators, or their designates, to
discuss the
present grant funding, any possibility of future funding,
(and its
related distribution). This meeting will be on Saturday
October 26, in
Red Deer at the Provincial Building, (room 207) at
1200hrs. This
building is located at 4920 - 51st Street in Red Deer.

meeting has already gone out to member teams, but should
you not have
received that notice, please contact the Provincial
Training

7th ANNUAL PROVINCIAL SAR CONFERENCE

of Communication -
The South Eastern Alberta Search and Rescue
(SEASAR) Team, SAR
Alberta and The Eagles Nest Ranch have joined forces to
host the 2003
SAR Alberta Conference with a TWIST! With the proximity
to the USA and
to the Saskatchewan Border we are going INTERNATIONAL in
scope.
Located at the South West Corner of the Cypress Hills
Interprovincial
Park, this
unique and well hidden outdoor oasis offers the SAR
Alberta Conference
attendees a total immersion into the SAR Scene with NO
outside
distractions. Cell phones don't work here! Most Pagers
don't work
here! Unless someone knows where you are, they won't find
you!
Conference dates
are March 7, 8, & 9th 2003. Information and
registration form is already up on the SEASAR website,
with more
information being posted each month as the event draws

FUNDAMENTALS COURSE

Pincher Creek
SAR is hosting a Fundamentals course at Beauvais Lake
Provincial Park, on October 26, 27 and November 16,
17th. Course
students are responsible for course costs (there is no
external
funding for this course).

SARA HAPPENINGS SUBMISSIONS

While this issue
is sent out early, our regular publication date
for mailings of SARA Happenings is the middle of each
month. Please
note that the deadline for material is the 10th of each
month.
Does your group
have an event posting for the SARA Happenings
mailing? If so,
please send information 1-1/2 months prior to the
dates you wish advertised. It will then give ample time
for those
